We need your help in asking your House representative to go on record opposing the ACHP’s radical rewrite of the regulations that implement Section 106!
We don’t have to tell you how damaging the ACHP’s misguided plan is: by making early consultation optional and redefining longstanding concepts like adverse effects and historic properties, their proposal will both threaten historic places and throttle development. And they failed to perform even the most basic assessment of its impact on small businesses, Tribes or anyone else.
That’s why we’re excited to tell you that a bipartisan group of House members has drafted a strong letter to the ACHP opposing their rewrite.
Please take a moment and send a message to your House representative asking them to sign this important letter. Your voice will make a difference!
And remember, you can find lots of resources to help you fight back against the ACHP’s overhaul in our Section 106 Action Center.

I’m disappointed that the canned text in the letter provided for individuals to sign and that will be sent to representatives makes no mention of the overarching constitutional implications of changes in regulations that are inconsistent with the law they are meant to implement and places insufficient emphasis on the cost of such changes to project owners and to heritage tourism. The US government has long ago established a blatant disregard for Indigenous rights and voices. Our current representatives have repeatedly proven they do not care about their constituents. The only thing that moves people with power and money in 2026 is money. We should be using that gross obsession to motivate people now. Sadly, rallying for citizen rights and the importance of cultural resources never got anybody anywhere. That said, I very much appreciate the time and effort ACRA is putting into this and encourage you to continue. Thank you.
