The Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office is seeking a National Register Coordinator.

Under the general supervision of the Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, this position performs administrative and professional work as Coordinator of the National Register of Historic Places and State Register of Historic Places programs. The position is a professional position, the requirements for which are described in Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 61 and the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Architectural History or History.

This position manages all aspects of the National Register of Historic Places program in Wisconsin and Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places program including assuring adherence to all federal and state legal requirements of the programs; coordinating review of State and National Register workflow with other division staff; providing professional guidance to consultants, other state and federal officials, and the general public; assembling agenda for the statutory Historic Preservation Review Board, and evaluating and preparing nomination documentation. This position provides architectural and historical expertise for other aspects of the historic preservation program as needed, including cultural resource management planning and the statewide survey program. This position consults with and educates public officials, professional historic preservation consultants and the general public about the State Register and National Register and other historic preservation related topics.

Starting pay range is $24.00 – $30.00 per hour ($49,920 – $62,400 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. More information and how to apply is available here.
