Drawing from applied case studies in African Diaspora archaeology and Restorative Justice archaeology practice, this session reframes archaeology as not only a compliance-driven process but as a collaborative tool for remembrance, accountability, and ethical engagement. Participants will learn how to identify material-, archival-, and landscape-based evidence in places where traditional markers of history may be absent. In the end, attendees will identify ways to support descendant communities seeking healing, recognition, and narrative control through the traditional CRM process.
