Who You Are:
Versar Global Solutions is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to support basic fieldwork initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
The Archaeological Field Technician will be expected to carry out basic fieldwork initiatives to include extended survey, infield analyses, shovel test and text unit excavation, and site form completion. In addition, the Field Technician will provide general administrative support as assigned to large block surveys, NRHP evaluation projects, or data recovery efforts.
What You’ll Bring:
- Individuals must possess a BA/BS degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, as well as the successful completion of an archaeological field school.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of using GPS technology, taking quality field photographs and detailed notes, and assisting crew leaders in filling out the necessary site forms and paperwork that accompany survey and testing projects
- Must have a demonstrated background working with prehistoric and historic archaeological materials and have a fundamental knowledge of GPS tools.
- Experience conducting data recovery excavations and possess proficient excavation techniques. Experience in the Southwest is preferred but not mandatory.
- Field Technicians should have experience conducting archaeological surveys and site documentation, which include feature and artifact identification and analyses, performing shovel test pits (STPs), site descriptions, photographs, and mapping.
- Prior experience in New Mexico and far West Texas and knowledge of regional prehistory and history preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, professionalism, positive attitude, flexibility with scheduling, and the ability to work and learn in a team setting.
- Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
- Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
- Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.
Location Requirements
The position will primarily work onsite in El Paso, TX.
Compensation
Expected Salary: $18.33/hr.
