About the Position
SRI Project Directors are boots-on-the-ground leaders responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on a wide range of cultural resource projects. Whether you’re managing surveys in the shrub-steppe, excavating historic sites, or authoring technical reports, you’ll be at the forefront of cultural stewardship.
Tiered Opportunities
We are hiring at multiple levels to match your background and career goals:
Project Director I (Entry-Level PD)
- Ideal for: Experienced crew chiefs or field leads ready to take on more responsibility.
- Requirements: MA/MS in anthropology or related field; 2+ years CRM field experience; SOI-qualified and RPA-eligible.
- Role: Support and begin leading survey, monitoring, and data recovery projects; contribute to report writing; supervise crews; and manage field documentation.
Project Director II
- Ideal for: Mid-career professionals with strong field experience and growing project management skills.
- Requirements: MA/MS; 5+ years CRM experience; SOI-qualified and RPA-eligible.
- Role: Independently direct projects; develop budgets, research designs, and reports; supervise crews; and coordinate logistics, analysis, and client deliverables.
Project Director III
- Ideal for: Senior-level professionals who can manage complex projects across all phases.
- Requirements: MA/MS; 5+ years CRM experience with proven leadership on complex, multi-crew projects; SOI-qualified and RPA.
- Role: Lead multidisciplinary teams; manage budgets, deadlines, and reporting; contribute to proposals; ensure agency and client compliance; and mentor junior staff.
What You’ll Do (All Levels)
- Plan and implement fieldwork, including archaeological survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery.
- Coordinate with Principal Investigators to develop and execute project goals.
- Supervise and mentor field crews and junior staff.
- Author or contribute to compliance reports and technical documentation.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, efficiency, and client responsiveness.
- Travel frequently across the region to perform field-based work in remote and diverse conditions.

- Applied knowledge of federal and state CRM laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Familiarity with cultural contexts of the Pacific Northwest.
- Demonstrated field and reporting experience aligned with your tier.
