Title: Project Director
Date: August 16, 2023
Location: Ft. Collins, Colorado

Cultural resource consulting firm, Statistical Research, Inc. (SRI), has two full-time positions available for a Project Director based out of its Ft. Collins, CO office. Come work with us at our new office and have a small company experience backed by 40 years in the business with additional offices in AZ, CA, NM, and WA. Fort Collins is located on the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains near Rocky Mountain National Park and is a thriving college town with the amenities of a bigger city but with a small town feel and easy access to all the outdoor activities that make Colorado great. If you don’t already live in or near Ft. Collins, remote work is an option. You will have the opportunity to be a part of shaping the culture of SRI’s newest office and will be valued for your contributions, ideas, and what makes you, YOU. We will support your career goals and provide mentorship to help you reach those goals, as you help us successfully complete fieldwork in an efficient, professional, and collaborative way.

The Mountain West office has interesting projects in beautiful places for federal and state clients such as the USFS, BLM, DRMS, NPS, as well as private clients. Current project locations include Pagosa Springs, CO, Grand Teton National Park, WY, and Moab, UT, to name just a few.

Minimum qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have an MA or MS degree in anthropology with a focus in archaeology and possess a minimum of five years of field experience with at least two years experience as a field supervisor on survey, testing, and data recovery projects. Candidates must be permittable in Colorado, with preference given to those also permittable in Utah and Wyoming. You should have a working command of federal and state cultural resource statutes and regulations, and having prior experience serving as lead author for Section 106 compliance reports will be viewed favorably.

SRI offers a compensation package that includes a projected pay range between $65,000-$75,000, professional development, a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, a retirement plan, and paid vacation/sick, and holiday leave. SRI also offers a tuition reimbursement program and student loan assistance program that is available in certain mutually agreeable situations. The salary for this exempt position will be commensurate with the applicant’s credentials, experience, and industry standards.

In the field you will have a daily food allowance of $59 per day (no receipts required). Single-occupancy hotel accommodation will be provided.

Job Description:

Our Project Directors (PD) are responsible for preparing and implementing all aspects of survey, testing, monitoring, data recovery plans, and coordinating all field and analytic tasks associated with fieldwork, analysis, and report preparation. This work will involve traveling and/or fieldwork. The PD is responsible for report writing and for having a solid understanding of the basics of cultural resource management.

For small- and medium-sized projects, the PD may also assume many of the tasks typically assigned to a Principal Investigator (PI), although you will work under the mentorships of the PI for that project. For larger projects, the PD will work in tandem with experienced project directors and/or the PI and the project manager to ensure that all tasks associated with project implementation are accomplished. We will provide the training you need to meet your deadlines, remain on budget, and meet SRI’s standard of care.

A PD will typically work on multiple projects simultaneously so the ability to multitask is critical. Once you have settled in at SRI, you will have the opportunity to train crew members and crew chiefs in archaeological field methods. We strive for a harmonious and productive work environment with our fellow SRI staff members and clients and are looking for individuals who seek the same.
