Senior Accountant
Indianapolis, IN or Cincinnati, OH
Gray & Pape, a national cultural heritage firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant in our Indianapolis, IN or Cincinnati, OH office. The successful candidate will be responsible for accounting functions, including accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger data entry, payroll and payroll taxes, audits, and monthly closing duties. The Senior Accountant supports the Vice President of Finance and Operations with other functions, including worker’s compensation and statistics.

What You’ll Do at Gray & Pape
- Prepare financial statements and reports for the senior management team.
- Perform all responsibilities associated with invoicing clients. Perform all responsibilities associated with payroll (time entry verification, entering personnel transactions, posting time to payroll, entering payroll adjustments, running payroll, making direct deposits, printing payroll reports, and posting payroll to general ledger) on a semi-monthly basis.
- Through our payroll service provider, ensure that all federal, state, and local payroll taxes (including withholding, unemployment, FICA, Medicare, and workers comp) are paid on time and that all payroll returns are submitted when scheduled.
- Perform all responsibilities associated with project entry and updating.
- Prepare and deliver 1099s.
- Correspond with vendors and other Gray & Pape employees to resolve routine accounting questions.
- Fulfill reporting requirements as needed by the Department of Labor and workers’ compensation agencies.
- Maintain company bank ledger and deposit checks.
- Enter all routine general ledger transactions on a weekly basis.
- Responsible for coordinating with auditors and the outside CPA and providing them with necessary information.
- Responsible for training employees in Deltek.
- Assist the Vice President of Finance and Operations with other business and administrative tasks as requested.
- Maintain the highest quality work standards.
- Complete work within assigned schedules.
- Maintain regular attendance and timeliness. Enter all time into Deltek (or timesheets) daily.
- Uphold excellent communication and foster a collaborative working environment with all employees, departments, and offices.
- Maintain and demonstrate commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
- Travel as needed to perform company-related tasks. This would include travel to either our Indianapolis or Cincinnati office.
- All other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to Gray & Pape
- A./B.S. Degree in Accounting.
- 5 years’ experience in small business accounting and bookkeeping.
- Demonstrated meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe suites of products.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a project management and/or consulting environment.
- Knowledge of DELTEK Vision and Vantagepoint and any other accounting/ERP systems the company may move to.
- Knowledge of Paylocity or any replacement payroll service the company may employ.
Travel
May occasionally travel to the Indianapolis or Cincinnati office.
