Branch Manager

Gray & Pape, a national and international cultural heritage management (CRM) firm, is seeking a Branch Manager in the Mid-Atlantic region to join our Archaeology practice. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Carolinas. The successful candidate for this opportunity will have a demonstrated strong and varied background in business development and geoarchaeology.

The expected salary range for this role is $75,000-$109,000 depending on proven geoarchaeology experience and business development capability. This role is full-time, regular status, exempt position.

Summary of the Role:

The Branch Manager assigns project tasks and manages the operation of the branch and participates in the development of branch business strategies in coordination with the Regional Manager. The Branch Manager ensures client satisfaction, successful delivery of projects, and overall branch performance including the successful identification of markets for business development and proposals. In addition to these duties, the Branch Manager functions as a Senior Principal Investigator – Archaeology and is responsible for the cost-effective, conception, implementation, and completion of multiple archaeological projects to the satisfaction of client requirements and in recognition of professional and company standards and ethics.

They are practiced in collaborative communication and management styles and have the demonstrated ability to balance the open, free-form culture of the organization with appropriate financial controls and discipline.

Required Qualifications

  1. M.A./M.S. in History, Archaeology, Historic Preservation, or related field plus 5 years supervisory and project management experience in cultural heritage management.
  2. Effective interpersonal skills and well-developed ability to communicate clearly.
  3. Demonstrated successful experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams including mentoring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  4. Extensive knowledge of industry project management standards and practices.
  5. Archaeological fieldwork skills: data acquisition using tablet based ESRI ArcGIS applications (Collector, Survey 123, ArcGIS Online, survey and mapping techniques), photography, and archaeological survey and excavation methods.
  6. Demonstrated report writing experience.
  7. Ability to analyze data (e.g., statistical analysis, material culture analysis, geomorphological analysis, etc.).
  8. Solid command of the legal framework of the profession.
  9. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  10. Display curiosity and respect for others’ perspectives and strengths.
  11. Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
  12. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with GIS software.

Travel is project-dependent with an expectation of travel outside the local area and for multiple days. Some projects may require extended travel.
