The Society for American Archaeology (SAA) is soliciting nominations for the Award for Excellence in Cultural Resource Management.
This award recognizes an individual, group, or organization that has made significant contributions to archaeology or historic preservation in a cultural resource management setting. It may honor sustained contributions over time or a specific achievement that has meaningfully advanced cultural resource management or preservation practice.
Recognized contributions may include:
- cultural resource management administration and program development;
- archaeological site protection and preservation;
- preservation planning;
- research;
- public interpretation, outreach, or education;
- consultation and community collaboration;
- development or implementation of public policy, regulations, agreements, or planning tools; and
- exemplary approaches to project management, fieldwork, reporting, mitigation, monitoring, stewardship, or public engagement.
Recipients may include:
- individuals;
- teams;
- organizations;
- agencies;
- tribes;
- companies;
- museums;
- educational institutions;
- nonprofit or community organizations; and
- partnerships.
The award may also recognize a particular project, program, or initiative with significance at the local, regional, national, or broader level.
