Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Archaeological Field Director in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Summary:
Responsible for project management, report preparation, supervision of Cultural Resources Management (CRM) field staff conducting archaeological survey, site recording, excavation, and/or mitigation. The ideal candidate must demonstrate effective communication, organization, and leadership skills with relevant regional experience in all phases of CRM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the cultural resource lead for complex cultural resource investigations.
- Plan, conduct, and lead cultural resources surveys, site recording, excavations, monitoring, and other fieldwork duties.
- Assist staff with permit compliance and other agency/regulatory stipulations.
- Assist Principal Investigators with preparation of cultural resources reports, research designs, treatment plans, and other technical documents.
- Maintain quality assurance/quality control protocols to ensure delivery of high quality technical documents.
- Management and supervision of staff members for cultural resource investigations throughout New Mexico.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related field.
- 10 years of supervisory experience (preferably in New Mexico and/or the Southwest).
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in extreme terrain and environmental conditions.
- Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000 Per Year plus benefits. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
ADA Notations:
- Some sedentary work is performed in an office/laboratory setting, with the majority of work performed outdoors, often in remote areas.
- Must be able to drive to remote areas
- Must be able to walk 8-10 miles a day with field pack and ample water, over rough terrain in variable weather conditions which likely will include high temperatures in summer months.
- A portion of the duties require strenuous physical effort associated with hiking during archaeological reconnaissance and surveys, such as climbing steep slopes, and physical labor such as stooping, bending, and carrying loads in excess of 50 pounds during archaeological excavation work.
