Projects Manager
Desert Archaeology, Inc. is seeking a solutions-oriented Project Manager to assist with the management of projects and operations in our Tucson, Tempe (Phoenix area), and Prescott offices. The Projects Manager plans, organizes, and executes projects to ensure they meet schedule, budget, and quality performance benchmarks. They connect project plans with the collective efforts of the Desert Archaeology team, helping guide projects to their goals.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in cultural resources management, a blend of creativity and pragmatism in problem solving, and enjoy collaborative work. In the Projects Manager role, they will help develop work opportunities with new and existing government, Tribal, and private clients, be responsible for tracking projects and compliance with contracts, and represent company values to Desert Archaeology clients and the public.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, permanent position with full medical, PTO, and retirement benefits.
Responsibilities:
This is a senior technical position within the company and the successful candidate will work with the administrative team and department heads to manage the company operations.
- Work with Desert Archaeology administrative staff to provide project management, operations, and quality control.
- Respond to requests for information, provide project scopes of work and cost proposals, and support on-call/IDIQ contracts
- Assist with the preparation of proposals
- Develop and oversee budgets
- Manage projects under state permits, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, or the National Environmental Policy Act
- Ensure compliance with contracts
- Maintain project record keeping
- Prepare progress reports for client meetings and invoicing
- Maintain and grow client data base
- Provide review and quality control of reports and project deliverables
- Represent Desert Archaeology at public engagements and professional events.
Qualifications:
- Experience in cultural/heritage resources management
- Master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, architecture, or related fields
- 12 years of archaeological or related experience
- 5 years of managerial experience
- Permittable by the Arizona State Museum at the Project Director level
- Qualified to Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications in Archaeology (36 CFR Part 61)
- Strong research and data analysis skills
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database skills
- Proficiency with Google Earth, GIS/GPS products, and evaluating spatial information
- Willing to do some limited travel, particularly to Phoenix
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Work site is in Tucson
- Experience in the western US
- US resident/citizen
The anticipated base pay range is $70,000 per year or commensurate with experience.
