Hiring preference may be given to an individual willing to relocate near our Montrose headquarters; however, applicants will also be considered who are within our region and willing to travel to Montrose for team collaboration.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Acting as primary project contact for federal, state, and municipal agencies, and private clients
  • Ensuring that all fieldwork, analysis, and reporting meets Alpine’s high-quality standards
  • Mentoring staff to develop their skills in accomplishing project requirements
  • Remaining current with relevant agency protocols and permit stipulations
  • Tracking the progress of numerous projects through the entire compliance process
  • Working collaboratively toward project success and leadership in staff development

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in anthropology or archaeology plus 5 years of supervisory experience in archaeological fieldwork, analysis, and report preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-pace consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, research, survey, excavation, analysis, and technical writing
  • Experience conducting historical research using primary source materials
  • A thorough understanding of the cultural resource regulations and agency permitting requirements in one or more of our service states
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing, and computer skills are integral to this position
  • Ability to conduct occasional fieldwork that may involve overnight stays, hiking in inclement weather, rough terrain, and/or high
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Salary and Benefit Package

Starting salary range: $85,000–$95,000/year, commensurate with experience Expected salary range: $90,000–$110,000/year

Staff benefits include:

  • 11 paid holidays, 13 paid vacation days, and 10 paid sick days during the first year; additional time off may be available to offset longer work weeks
