The Ottery Group has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time Project Archeologist to direct field projects primarily in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Applicants should be available to travel daily to project sites as necessary for fieldwork duties. Projects will be located primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region, but also in other parts of the U.S. Prior work experience in Mid-Atlantic is preferred.
Project Archeologist responsibilities include:
- Plan, organize, and manage archeological surveys, site recordation, monitoring, and other fieldwork duties
- Supervise crews on a day-to-day basis in all phases of a project
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure that projects are performed within budget and meet project schedules and scopes of services
- Review and maintain quality control of all field data
- Contribute to technical reporting under the guidance of the Principal Investigator
Qualified applicants must possess:
- Master’s degree in Archeology, Anthropology, or closely related field
- At least two years of experience in supervising cultural resources management projects
- Experience in evaluating pre-contact Native American and historic artifacts and features
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability and willingness to travel
This is a full-time position and compensation includes benefits. Salary is expected to be in the $45-50,000 range, depending on experience.
