We are seeking a full-time Archaeological Lab Manager with a strong background in prehistoric and historic material cultural in the Midwest and Eastern North America. This position is based in our Corporate Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. The compensation will range from $25-$30/hr based on experience.

THE PERSON
The ideal candidate must be experienced with standard archaeological laboratory processes and practices. They will have two to five years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably with a background in archaeological field work, as well. Experience with Mississippian, and Fort Ancient ceramics is a plus. They must be comfortable leading, coordinating, and managing technicians to process, identify, and catalog recovered artifacts, including samples retained for specialized analyses. Must be able to coordinate processing multiple collections simultaneously and work within firmly established project schedules. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to track multiple projects is critical. The most successful candidates will be those who exhibit a sense of curiosity, genuine leadership, and have a strong desire to grow and develop.
Candidates with a background in Midwestern archaeology and prehistory will be prioritized, but candidates with requisite laboratory experience in other regions will be considered. Excellent written and oral communication skills, familiarity with standard office software packages, and the ability to work as a team member is essential.
Our desired, well-rounded candidate will be able to assist with artifact analysis for technical reports, coordinate and communicate with regarding project status, and maintain schedules and project budgets. In addition, the selected candidate will coordinate curation and the final disposition of artifact collections with Federal and State agencies. Occasional field work may be required, including overnight and potentially out-of-state travel. In office attendance is a requirement, but remote work for portions of each week is an option after 90 days based on job requirements.
