ACRA Committees

ACRA’s Academic Collaboration Committee aims to create stronger links between the CRM industry and academia. The committee membership consists of representatives from both private industry and academic institutions, and members work to create programs and initiatives to improve access to the industry for students, increase collaboration between CRM firms and academia, and more.

Awards Committee members are responsible for reviewing applications for and selecting recipients for the yearly ACRA Awards. ACRA’s Awards Program recognizes private- and public-sector clients of ACRA member firms for CRM accomplishments and commitments exceeding those required by various laws and regulations. The awards also recognize ACRA member firms or employees thereof who have made a long-term and on-going public service commitments to CRM.

The Collections & Curation Committee works in partnership with other archaeological organizations to review collections and curation best practices, address challenges in the discipline, and develop new methods. As part of the Archaeological Collections Consortium (ACC), the committee works with representatives from other stakeholders to focus on the use, preservation, and management of archaeological collections. A key ACC goal is to develop and act upon a common platform of objectives that seek to benefit the discipline and ultimately the public for whom archaeological collections are curated in the public trust.

ACRA’s Communications Committee manages the organization’s communications and marketing strategy. Committee members solicit and consult on website content, marketing displays, communications strategies with both members and non-members, and more.

ACRA’s Annual Conference is the premier event of the year for the CRM industry. The Conference Committee works to plan and execute the conference each year, including creating the session schedule, organizing tours and workshops, planning the welcome and awards receptions, and much more.

The Continuing Education Committee focuses on providing educational opportunities for CRM professionals at all stages of their career. Committee members solicit proposals for and organize ACRA’s robust webinar program, which focuses on increasing the business efficacy of CRM firms, advocacy for the CRM industry, and improving the practice of CRM. Committee members also work to find new ways to engage with members and non-members alike on topics important to the industry.

The Diversity Committee focuses on ensuring that groups of all backgrounds have representation and a voice within ACRA. They work to expand and integrate diversity and inclusion practices and programs within the association. Led by ACRA’s Vice President for Diversity, the committee works to promote the value of diversity and multiculturalism with the larger CRM industry, acting as a liaison with other stakeholders.

The Finance Committee prepares a proposed annual budget for submission to and approval by the Board and monitors the budget throughout the calendar year. The committee may perform such other duties in connection with the finances of the Association as the Board may determine from time to time.

The Government Relations Committee oversees ACRA’s government advocacy program. Led by the ACRA Vice President for Government Relations and the Government Relations Committee Chair, the committee tracks legislation and regulatory changes and advocates for conditions that allow the CRM industry to thrive.

The Health & Safety Committee focuses on providing resources for member firms to prioritize the safety of their employees. This includes providing safety template plans, guidance on the latest safety issues, and more.

The HQ Oversight Committee evaluates the operations of ACRA Headquarters and reports on the evaluation to the ACRA Board of Directors.

The Membership Committee is chaired by ACRA’s Vice President for Membership. Committee members focus on connecting with prospective and current members and provide a wide suite of membership benefits. The committee also works on ACRA’s growing partnership program with other organizations.

The Metrics & Standards Committee works with the ACRA Board of Directors to collect and report on information and data trends pertinent to the CRM industry. This includes organizing industry surveys, analyzing survey results, and ensuring that data collection is consistent and pertinent to current industry practices. One of their most important projects is the CRM Industry Salary Survey, which is conducted every 4 years and looks at wages, benefits, and compensation across the industry.

The Nominating Committee works to nominate candidates for election to the Board and to prepare a slate for the Board’s approval prior to the ACRA’s yearly election. The immediate Past President chairs the Nominating Committee as per ACRA’s bylaws.

ACRA’s Small Business Committee engages with and provides a community space for CRM firms classified under ACRA’s small firm membership levels. Committee members work to provide specific benefits for small firm practitioners, increase access for small businesses classified as DBEs, and recruit and provide support for new small firm association members.
